I've decided to build a new boat.
My previous boat was left on a giant ass hill top, over looking the ocean; with a crazy old man.
That's another story entirely though.
A horrible, horrible, horrible other story, entirely... Which we will not speak of right now, until some other time.
Never let an impatient person push you into anything, unless you feel 100% okay with the jump.
Here are some pictures of my previously built boat at different stages of completion...
It's a basic Jon Boat; 4 foot wide, 11 foot long, 2 foot deep, with a conservative displacement of 1995 lbs; but she can take more.
Installed an old 10 person tent on a rib cage made of PVC water piping for protection from the weather while out sailing; which I never got to do in her.
View from the front with tent deployed.
From the stern, and entrance to the tent proper.
Then this massive tarp deployed over everything to completely water/weather proof the innards, in emergency storm situations.
Anyway.
Here is the new boat design I am going to be putting together; these are just rough measurements right now, and will probably be expanded from 3 foot wide, to 3 and a half foot wide; and 1.5 feet deep to 2 feet deep, just to maximize inside room space and the addition of a small wrap around shelf.
It's designed to be two independent units, which click together to make a 12.5 foot long boat; then disassemble to make a small camper trailer; that can be stored in a city apartment, and pulled by hand to the water's edge when utilized for boating.
The design on the left hand side is a rough idea for a door, I am torn between one large door, which can operate as a small awning for rain coverage; or two small doors; which would be trickier to get out of without breaking the lower door with my weight.
I have a set of solar panels which will be rigged onto the outside; and an electric trolling motor for propulsion; it will also be rigged with oars, and a Yuloh, (Ancient Chinese Secret.) for extra style points.
I still have to draw up the trailer, but more or less know what it is; a simple frame with bike front forks/wheels; when the boat deploys from clam shell mode; the trailer flips upside down, and clicks into place on top of the bow section; placed flush and out of the way of the passenger(s) up front.
It cannot however be easily store in an apartment, but would be perfect for living in full time; should one chose to. Which I've considered. Winter here is pretty harsh; but I enjoy it; so it's more of a pleasurable challenge to me than a bad thing. That is why there is a chimney from a small wood stove that is built into the front, utilizing my Solo Stove.
So that's that.
Boat plans, ideas, and future potential.
Should I fuck off from society in my clam shell boat cabin thing; you can be sure when I find free Wifi connections, and will update the blog with whatever the Hell it is that has happened along the way.
Here is a video from when I finished building the hull of the boat; only to realize I wasn't able to lift it more than half an inch, due to it's enormous weight (Used way too much wood, and way too thick wood... Lesson learned... But damn, this thing would survive the Biblical Apocalypse itself...); so that is when I learned how to use levers...
