Strange Short Stories II - :Doorways:

It was foggy.

Deep, blue fog had rolled in that morning; and no one was around the city in it.

Not since a few months ago.

A fog has settled on the city one day and everyone that went out into the streets vanished.

As if they got lost in their own city.

No one had seen any of them since.

Yet he could hear foot steps outside.

Someone was running; and fast, but not in any particular direction.

The man with his hat on, leaned out the window to look around.

As foot steps drew closer he realized they were panicking; whoever they were, from the pattern of their footsteps alone.

Suddenly a cry cut through the fog!

"HELLO!!! Can anyone help me!?! Someone??? IS ANYONE OUT THERE?!?!" came the call.

The man with the hat decided he was, indeed, THERE.

So he called back out.

"Come towards my voice!!! I will meet you at the doorway!!"

"No!! NO MORE DOOR WAYS!!!" came the response.

Slightly odd; he thought to himself as he left his abode and walked down the hallway to the staircase that led to the main door of the complex he lived in.

Upon opening the door and entering the fog; he could feel a sudden sensation of bodies, and people swirling and moving around him everywhere.

No wonder everyone was staying inside.

"I am over here!!!" he called out again

This time there was no response.

Walking out further into the fog, he soon realized it would be best to not leave his block or wander too far; for some reason his mind has started swimming and filling with abstract thoughts and ideas; none of which he had ever really experienced before.

Upon rounding the corner of his building he found the women huddled up in the corner of the dingy alleyway; behind the dumpsters.

"Please! Help me!!!" she whimpered while reaching out towards him.

His mind started reeling with the possibilities of this.

Was she some strange homeless person, a murderer maybe?

What kind of thoughts were these; he had to get it together and see what was happening.

Approaching her he said:
"Come in out of the fog if you want; but we gotta go through that door over there." he pointed towards the entrance of his building.

"Okay, okay, okay... Just get me out of the fog; please!" was the implored answer.

Upon entering the building and settling down on the couch, she started shaking violently from confusion and fear.

She stared down at his fancy rug.

The intricate patterns on the floor seemed to hypnotize her.

"They took me there!" she exclaimed with a sudden realization; and pointed towards the rug and a design on said rug that depicted strange wheels, bands of colour and intertwining patterns of lines.

"Who took you there?"

"The others! They said we all forgot about them; and our reality was disconnecting from theirs!"

"Um... Oh yeah?"

"That`s why they took us all! They took us to remind us that our reality is not just what is here; and what we perceive!!! I want to go back, I want to go back so bad! To the warmth and splendor of their world!!!"

"Well I guess your stuck here for now... How did you get there anyway?"

"My friends and I... We were out walking around one night in the fog, when everything started to shudder and bend; that`s when the doorways opened and pulled us in! Everyone is still back there; they sent me back to tell others about this place and the beings and people there! If we destroy our world here, or move away from theirs too far everything will collapse!!!"

.THE END.

Saucy Short Stories #1

In a world gone mad.

In a time spun out of control.

In a reality held prisoner.

Fear.

Choking the city with it's cold clasps.

The city had been free; long ago; when men worked for themselves.

That was too long ago; and had almost been forgotten.

Now; in this city the corporations preyed on the citizens minds.

Bombarding them with messages.

The corporations had the citizens paying fist over cuff in money for the elusive pleasure of killing themselves.

The Government engineering everything down to the flick of every switch in every home on every street in every neighbourhood in every room to cause the spewing of death from the monsterous machinery which powered the City itself.

Even the transportation was rigged, and geared to constantly belch invisible death.

Plants were banned.

Plants with no effect were instituted.

Plants to replace the natural supplements of sunshine were induced.

Soon it had been this way for so long; no one knew any different.

No one cared.

Everyone was told; but still they drove here and there.

Continued to leave all the switches on; and entertainment vessels blarring.

Even in empty rooms; with on to notice.

The Government also wanted everyone to bend to their will.

To work; and ignore life.

This peril they instill:

BE AFRAID OF IT ALL! IT'S ALL MURDER AND DEATH!! THE ENTIRE PLANET IS MAD!!! EVEN HERE IS NOT SAFE STAY INSIDE AND PLUG INTO CYBER SPACE!!!!

So inside they all stayed; plugged into a wall, looking at screens that were flat; with hardly any colour at all.

Soon their eyes saw things different.

No more could they see; the millions of shades of black, white, red, yellow, or any form of shade!

The Citizens world became boring and grey.

On top of the fear;
The Government preyed on the increase in gas price to constantly strain the pocket books of the working folks and keep them unstrayed; from the joys of a life, working in chain.

So in the backyards of their home; behind fences the Citizens camped, cut off from nature, the woods and the land.

Ridiculous in nature it may sound or be; but this might be happening to you and me.

Soon the Police took in mind; that they were in charge.

For some reason or another, instead of protect they sought.

To find any different that could possibly be; a thief, a murder, or terrorist.

And that's all they would see.

Wherever they looked a hostile Citizen they saw; until the fear they instilled reflected back in them in awe.

Now the cops were scared of the Citizens they protect.

The Citizens scared of the cops that get bent.

Everyone afraid, locked inside and depraved.

Experience life through a video play.

Until one day.

It all got blown away.

At the flick off a switch.

One night the Citizens caved in!
NO MORE CAN WE LIVE THIS WAY!

And so no more switches they play.

Knowing they were killing the planet they held.

They stopped throwing switches and screeching metal fell:

Silent.

With no lights on, and no cars driving, the economy crashed and the prisoners left laughing.

The corporations lost power, through the hostage of money they held.

And fell down to the ground.

Their office buildings were painted, crazy colours like green.

With images of wildlife, abstract, and insane.

All the people drove small hilarious cars.

Powered by the energy, actions and motion of gear head wyz-ards.

So the people took the Government, back in their hands, built robots to work, so that man could enjoy his life and experience it full.

Now they all travel, and have a stable home.

No more work, no more bills, the Government just sits back and chills.

Soon it starts to spread, and covers up the globe, humans just relaxing, learning to be more amused.

Art and music, song and dance, all the people rejoiced and moved to the math.

So simple it was; to do nothing at all, but sit in the dark and ignore the calls.

Turn it all off; forever on them.

No guns, no bombs, no violence or dread.

Everyone at once, converse and use your imagination instead.

Don't turn the lights on, go to work, or drive;
instead sit, and wait, with everything off until the Government realized just how wrong,
and how much killing, polluting, and maiming for profit would cost.

Action through no action.

Things will resolve.

The Serious Man is going to be felled.

No guns, no bombs, no dread.

The Serious Man is going to be fed;
back to the dark place where he once manifest.

Without doing a thing at all; the Citizens won.

Their reality.
Their time.
Their world.

And so it begun.

.Logic.

Didn't tell you trees can hold conversations.

But your stupid machines did.

Only took you blokes a couple thousand years to catch up.

Way to go.

.Stranger Then Fiction.

We took our time,
found the campsite just fine,
grabbed enough branches,
to last us the night.

Built a fire,
kept fanning the flames,
wet wood will burn,
if you know the way.

"Here take these."

Was all that we knew.

Watched the sun go down;
with the plants strange brew.

Blood red moon;
a sliver of dagger,
rose then fell;
with an ominous flavor.

Smoke some toke,
see what goes down,
get a little silly,
while the stars start spinnin around.

Just like that;
it all collapsed.

Sirens in the distance,
start a panic and flap,
the tree told our friend,
to give them the Salvia and DMT.

So buried in the ground it sure did seem,
the safest place, to hide these things;
from the ugly arm of civilization,
reaching out to extinguish our dream.

Then *snap*,
our brains did flip;
perception became a thing that was confizzled.

"It must be the fairies"
The only rational thought.
Camping in a circle can get pretty hot.

A dog barking far,
brought images of police,
then we realized,
it was no vicious beast.

At that moment,
in that time,
it became apparent,
we'd be just fine.

Even though the barking;
was a million miles away,
it appeared to be right in front of us that day.

One could reach out and touch,
the dogs blaring noise,
pretty soon it was evident,
space and time had no meaning.

The dog barking far away;
was right in front of us that evening.

"AAHHG The fairies, they're up to it again!"

Retreating to our tents,
we tried to be men.

The trees told me stories,
of history past;
of man kinds development,
an animals wrath.

Meaty things;
born out of plants,
to make fertilizer,
to advance their chance.

Spinning and spinning,
they sent my mind reeling,
watching the stars,
with a completed sense of being.

When faster and faster;
my thoughts did race,
until the sun poked up;
and filled us with grace.

Whoooo boy;
look at that;
the thoughts went flat.

Suddenly realizing:
simply being,
is where it's at.

Laying there being;
without a wink of sleep,
watching the sun come back up,
upside down,
near the lake.

Human kind,
had it so easy then,
just be,
and exist,
and make some new friends.

Now even the animals,
try to ignore,
the civilization,
that grunts and roars.

They all just be,
man kind moves on,
never content,
to hear the sweet birds song.

Crawling out of our tents,
we all lost our minds,
it felt really great,
to be in touch with the divine,
that hides in the wilderness,
secreted away,
engravings on a machete;
our proof of the day.

The trees played us good.

Walked out feeling Greek;
like a philosopher of old,
our logic has been set,
by the druids untold.
