.The Beauty of Roman Numerals.





One night I was very, very, very, very, very high.

Trippin' balls high, even... 

You know, when your so high you can't go out your front door 'for some reason'... 

So while falling alseep Roman Numerals ran through my head and I noticed a very beautiful pattern to them I hadn't seen before.

I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, IXV, XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII, XIX, XX, XXI, and so on.

It's a wonderful and elegant use of Columns, structures, and almost is a work of engineering I'd say.

My favorite part is the way the structure within the numerals, sort of creates a 'rise and fall' pattern; or a building design.

There is a movement from the first half of ten, into the second half of ten, and this continues as the numbers climb in value.

As opposed to our individualized and completely not flowing system of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and so on.

In short, people within The Ancient World prolly had way more time on their hands, and muchos more brain power to dedicate towards it, so even their number systems were carefully designed works of art that reflected their understanding of the world around them in subtle, hilarious ways.

While reading Roman Numerals in my head or on a page; I like to think of a windy sound going like: whooooOOOOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOoooooooohw with the number patterns.

Yes, I find this fun.
